The interior design division of the company is very active, with a team of designers working with many clients in both residential & commercial projects. From small renovations to high-end luxury custom designs, their portfolio is continually growing.  Their interior design also offers a variety of custom window coverings available in their design studio.

To complete their full service design, they can also assist their clients in decorating their spaces with furniture and decor, with their retail store serving as a popular shopping location.

The Owners

Matters of Design Inc. is owned by Gord & Laura Maljaars.

Gord Maljaars successfully completed his Architectural Drafting Technician certification from the University of The Fraser Valley. He was awarded Top-Student recognition and Dean’s List for outstanding performance and achievements. He also became an International Design and Decorating Professional when he completed the Interior Decorating diploma with QC Design School.

Gord worked in the home building industry for seven years to equip him with a wealth of experience and knowledge in design, construction costs, budgets and administration of constructing a home. He has successfully designed, decorated and staged numerous homes and show-homes in Lethbridge that have won awards and become widely recognized in the community for their attractive designs.

Laura has, while caring for her family, renovated and decorated their homes over the years to create dramatic “before-and-after” transformations. She decorates homes to be attractive yet is passionate about creating practical spaces that best serve their purpose.

Gord and Laura are happily married, and they live in Lethbridge with their four children.
